Quotes for all campus computers, printers and monitors are provided by IT. All quotes provided by IT for standard computers, printers, and monitors will meet at least Bronze-level registration under the Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT). Preference will be given for electronic products that have achieved EPEAT Silver or Gold registration. For more information on EPEAT and its criteria, please check www.epeat.net/resources/criteria.
Over their lifetime, compared to products that do not meet EPEAT criteria, the 522 EPEAT registered electronics purchased by the University of Wisconsin -Oshkosh in 2016 will result in environmental impact reductions including:

  • Reduce use of primary materials by 71.1 metric tons, equivalent to the weight of 2 tractor-trailer 18-wheelers
  • Avoid the disposal of 465 metric tons of hazardous waste, equal to the weight of 4 refrigerators
  • Eliminate the equivalent of 1 U.S. household’s solid waste for a year—2 metric tons
  • Avoidance of 314 kg of water pollutant emissions

Energy-Related Savings
EPEAT’s requirement that registered products meet the latest ENERGY STAR specifications means these products will consume less energy throughout their useful life, resulting in:

  • Savings of 200,000 kWh of electricity—enough to power 16 U.S. homes for a year
  • Reduction of 34.6 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions— equivalent to taking 25 average U.S. passenger cars off the road for a year
  • $20,640 in lifetime cost savings
