McGill has an IT Asset Management Regulation which mandates the purchasing of environmentally preferable electronics. Here is the link to our Regulation: https://www.mcgill.ca/procurement/files/procurement/mcgill_it-asset_reg.pdf 1. McGill University has adopted EPEAT Gold as a Mimimum Standard Requirement for its institutional desktops, laptops and displays, since 2014. The University also applies this to tablets since 2016. See Minimum Standard requirements here: https://kb.mcgill.ca/#tab:homeTab:crumb:8:artId:5178:src:article Language in latest RFP: “McGill University has adopted EPEAT Gold as a standard for its purchases destined for internal use and seeks to purchase IT products manufactured by OEMs who are active members of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and the Conflict Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI). Moreover, the McGill Computer Store aims to provide EPEAT Silver or Gold registered products for resell purposes.” 2. McGill University has adopted EPEAT Silver as a Minimum Standard Requirement for its institutional desktop printers since January 2016. See Minimum Standard Requirements here: https://kb.mcgill.ca/#tab:homeTab:crumb:8:artId:5178:src:article 3. McGill University applies EPEAT criteria to other electronic equipment, with each Call for Tenders (RFPs). In 2015, McGill was purchasing new televisions for student residences. The Call for Tenders Clause for Televisions, in French: “Les téléviseurs doivent être certifies EPEAT” (The televisions must be EPEAT certified). Then, in the contract, two Samsung models were specified and these were EPEAT Silver certified (HG40ND690DF and HG48ND690DF). Forthcoming RFP for televisions, in May 2016 will specify EPEAT Silver as a requirement. |
