2018 EPEAT Purchaser Award – 1 Star

Over their lifetime, compared to products that do not meet EPEAT criteria, the 8 EPEAT-registered IT products purchased by the DEA Northeast Laboratory in 2018 will result in environmental impact reductions including:

  • Reduce use of primary materials by 0.7 metric tons, equivalent to the weight of 294 bricks

  • Avoid the disposal of 8 kg of hazardous waste, equal to the weight of 3 bricks

  • Eliminate 3.27 kg of solid wasate

  • Avoidance of 3 kg of water pollutant emissions

Energy-Related Savings
EPEAT’s requirement that registered products meet, and often exceed, the latest ENERGY STAR specifications means these products will consume less energy throughout their useful life, resulting in:

  • Savings of 2.2 MWh of electricity—enough to power one U.S. household for 2 months
  • Greenhouse gas emissions reduction of 1.4 metric tons of CO2 equivalents—equal to taking one average U.S. passenger car off the road for 4 months
  • $224 in lifetime cost savings
