2017 Catalyst Awards Will Honor Supply Chain Sustainability at CES Asia
The Green Electronics Council (GEC) is accepting nominations for its 2017 Catalyst Awards. The GEC Catalyst Awards seek to inspire innovation in the design, manufacture and use of electronics to advance sustainability. Organizations can submit their nomination online until April 4, 2017.
The 2017 Catalyst Awards will recognize innovations in supply chain sustainability. Eligible nominations may include a focus on the supply chains of electronics providers and/or the use of technology to increase supply chain sustainability. Winners of the 2017 Catalyst Awards will be announced in June 2017 at CES Asia, taking place in Shanghai, China.
“Technology is fundamental to achieving supply chain sustainability,” said Nancy Gillis, CEO of the Green Electronics Council. “Announcing the 2017 Catalyst Award winners at CES Asia shows how global technology brands recognize that sustainable technology supply chains result in cost savings, risk reduction and increased competitiveness.”
Previous GEC Catalyst Awards have recognized product innovations. In 2015, Dell, Inc. won for closing its manufacturing loop and using 100% post-consumer recycled plastic for certain components. In 2016, GEC recognized two organizations. AMD won the “Catalyzing Impact at Scale” Award for improving the energy efficiency of its mobile products 25 times by 2020. PuzzlePhone won the “Catalyzing Disruptive Innovation” Award for a modular mobile phone design that expands device lifespans and to significantly reduce phone-related e-waste.
GEC will once again recognize two organizations in 2017. Winners will be selected by a Judging Committee of external experts from leading global organizations. Judges will be announced in late January 2017.
Any organization committed to a world of sustainable electronics who also understands the power of supply chains may apply for the GEC Catalyst Awards. Nominations must be for products, processes, policies and programs launched during the past five years.
